Three Miami Suns players were named to the Top Prospect game during the Perfect Game National Underclass Showcase. Alex “AP” Perez, Manny Pazos and Kevin Williams turned a few heads and caught the eye of many recruiters and scouts in attendance. Below is the official event’s prospect synopsis for each of them.
Manny Pazos (C/Inf Pace 2013) had an impresive showcase, with the second best pop, 1.86 time in the showcase from behind the plate, and showing great hands and range at 2nd, SS, and 3rd base. He also showed well with the bat, with a good showing in the indivual drills, and with 2 hits and and overall quality at bats against some of the best pitchers in the class of 13 and 14 in the country. Pazos showed that he is one the most versatile and and all around top prospects in the class of 2013.
Alex “AP” Perez (P/CF Pace 2013) had a dominating and stellar showing as he threw a total of 5 inn, not giving up a hit, and striking out 10 hitters. AP showed great command of his curveball and change up to go along with a 87 to 89mph fastball that left quality hitters swinging and missing. AP is coming off a great summer and fall with the Suns, where he faced teams like the Jacksonville Warriors and FTB Mizzuno and gave up a total 2 earned runs over 11innings, while striking out 15. One the best pitchers in the class of 2013, AP will continue to improve as he gains complete command of his change up, and continue to add velocity to an already electric fastball.
Kevin Williams ( OF American Heritage 2014) Kevin put on display his athletic ability, and his bat speed and gap to gap power at the plate at the Underclass National Showcase. Williams ran the 3rd best time , clocked at 6.68 and his hard work in the cage showed, as he impressed the scouts with a very good swing in the hitting time at the showcase, as well as in the games. Kevin has put in countless hours of hard work to improve his game. Entering his sophmore season, Kevin is poised to take another big step by playing at American Heitage and into the Summer as a memeber of the Miami Suns 17u Gold team.
